About Christie
Animals are my lifelong passion. I started pet sitting for friends and family during high school and college. I studied Animal Science at the University of Maryland, College Park and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2009. I officially launched "Christie's Critter Care" in 2011, offering house sitting, drop in pet sitting and dog walking services in Howard County. After getting married in 2014, I stopped house sitting and started offering boarding in our home in West Friendship instead. In 2018, we bought a new farm in Sykesville and designed a dedicated safe space in our home for the dogs so that I could comfortably accommodate up to 10 dogs at a time. As a result of the pandemic, the pet sitting and dog walking business dried up and I turned my full attention to daycare and boarding. I no longer offer other pet care services.
My husband and I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback, 8 horses, 5 barn cats and a small flock chickens (we sell eggs -- inquire if interested!). Our dog, Nala, is our pride and joy. We enjoy showing and lure coursing with her. I breed and compete hunter/jumper horses on the National level and have been a volunteer with the Howard County Volunteer Mounted Patrol since 2012 (currently inactive).
I strive to be a very dependable, honest, and hard working animal lover. The majority of my clients are referred to me by friends, family, and clients. I keep my business small so that I can offer the highest level of care in your absence. I am very selective of the dogs that I allow to come here since they won't just be living with your dog -- they'll also be living with mine. All dogs must pass an evaluation with my dog, a trial day of daycare, and be up to date on their vaccines before I will allow them to board.
